moving is crazy!

Hey people,

It' s been a really long time since I updated, so you've probably all stopped reading, which means I'm now talking to myself. Oh well...

So I'm moving to the great north. It's pretty crazy- I talked to the mover today and apparently in the Yukon moving companies don't work on the weekends. And they don't give you much of a choice as to when your stuff arrives. In my case, they will not be able to get my stuff there until after the long weekend in September, which will be at least two weeks of living out of a suitcase in Whitehorse while I'm teaching. grrr... I guess I will be going out to buy a sleeping bag when I get there.

Ahhhh, I'm starting a full-time job teaching little people!!! I've been trying to do lesson planning and such, but there is so much to do that I didn't know where to start... so I've been watching movies, practicing tin whistle, and downloading music, such as a song I found today about a guy being addicted to Mountain Dew. Good times.

procrastination

I don't really have any exciting news, other than that I've accepted the Whitehorse job and all that's left to do is sign the contract once they send it to me. It's so strange, I think it will feel more real once I've signed the contract. Other than that, I've been chilling out at home a lot because I only have three classes. Currently, I am procrastinating from the one small assignment I have to do (or actually should have done already, but that's neither here nor there.) For all of the extra time I have right now, I'm not getting much accomplished. Oh well, this is the life...

Jobs...

So last Tuesday I had a phone interview for a music job in Manitoba, and then on Wednesday I got offered the job, and then on Thursday I turned down the job. I turned down the job because on Tuesday I got a letter from the Toronto Catholic board offering me a job (still not sure where exactly and doing what exactly). I also turned down the Manitoba job because last week I had an interview for a job in Whitehorse, but then I decided that I didn't want it because it was only a 0.7 position (meaning not completely full-time) and told them this on Thursday, and then got a call later on Thursday asking if I would still be interested if they made it a 1.0 position (full-time). So yesterday (Friday) I sort of got offered the job teaching music at a Catholic school in Whitehorse. It's not official yet, they still have to do reference checks and such. I haven't accepted anything yet/ been officially offered anything definite yet, but I'm leaning toward the Whitehorse job, it would be pretty cool to live in the Yukon for a couple of years...

Ahhhh...

I just finished my second internship on Friday, so tomorrow it is back to classes for me. It should be pretty slack because I only have three classes. My schedule is sweet- I have class on Monday morning and Wednesday all day and that's it! I think I am going to have so much spare time I won't know what to do with myself.

Last week I had two phone interviews for teaching jobs next year- one was for Yellowknife and one was for Whitehorse. Both were positions teaching music in Catholic schools. I am supposed to hear back about both sometime this week. I still don't know what's going on with teaching jobs in Toronto and Calgary and such, plus I am still considering continuing the process of applying to teach in Scotland. Exciting times...

Easter's coming!

I can't believe it's almost Easter! The year has gone by so fast! Only two more weeks until I'm back in Calgary for a few days!

Things are going good. I got a summer job working at an Easter Seals camp just outside of Calgary. It ends at the beginning of August, so that will give me lots of time to relax and prepare to move maybe? I just started learning trumpet- man am I bad! Oh well, at least I'm getting better at clarinet.

not much to say....

Well I'm back in good old Fredericton. I don't have much to say except that life is awesome. My music internship is really good and not too much work (good considering I think I am getting lazy). I've been doing quite a bit of dance lately. I started a dance class for people in my education program, plus the Irish dance school is putting on a show next weekend and I am dancing in it- so we have been having lots of rehearsals for that. Now I'm counting down the days till Easter break!

good times in the Maritimes

Hello people!

I am Halifax right now and was in PEI on Friday for a job fair. It was pretty good, I had two interviews- one for the Toronto Catholic Board and one for the Alberta Christ the Redeemer School Board. The Toronto interview was really good, so who knows where I will end up next year...

I've been picking up all of these interesting expressions that people use in the Maritimes. One is to use the word "right" to mean "really". For instance, "I was right mad." Another interesting one they say is "jigging", meaning skipping class. Apparently it comes from skipping school to go fishing. Yes, yes, I know, I am the source of valuable information, which you may now use to show others that you are really cultured.
